3rd Grade

Well another year has come and gone and Colby started 3rd grade this week!! Can't believe I have a 3rd grader. He is in Mrs. Fawson's class. He was a crack up school shopping this year, up until now he has not cared what I pick out for him to wear, but this year he was Mr. Style, he needed skinny jeans, vans shoes, and a back pack that goes across the front. He is definitely becoming a very stylish and quite a handsome kid!!

Kolob

The last weekend before Colby headed back to school we spent the weekend up at Kolob with the Orton's. We spent the couple of days we were up there out shooting, catching frogs, and having yummy dutch oven dinner. Taylee had so much fun picking up the frogs, she wasn't scared at all. She would grab them out of the bucket sometimes 2 at a time, maul them a little and then throw them back into the bucket to do it all again. Poor frogs... haha. Colby had a great time shooting guns with the boys. However, both families ended up needing a new tire or two by the end of the weekend which was not so great. But all in all it was a horrible weekend for tires but a great weekend with some great friends. We can't wait to do it again!!

24th of July

Trying to catch up on a few missed posts....

So the 24th of July was a pretty low key holiday for us this year, we usually spend the 24th in Escalante but with both Josh an
d I working the whole weekend that didn't happen. Colby spent the weekend up in Salt Lake with his cousin so it was just the 3 of us for the weekend. Josh and I both ended up having Sunday off so we took a great drive up and around Kolob. It was gorgeous up there and it was nice to get out of the heat for a few hours. We then came home and ate dinner and then Josh set up a cute little firework show for me and Taylee. Tay covered her eyes through every firework, it was a great little weekend even if most of it was spent working.

Taylee

These pictures were taken over the 4th of July weekend, but they deserved a post of their own... my sweet baby girl

4th of July Weekend

What a great 4th of July! Josh and I both managed to get 5 days off together for the 4th so we headed up to Boulder to celebrate my favorite holiday! We just bought a new camp trailer so we were able to stay up on the mountain which was so fun! We still came down the mountain to shower and eat some tasty food at my mom's house but it was nice to be able to have them come up and spend some time on the mountain with us as well. On Saturday the kids got to be in the 4th of July parade and later that night headed out dancin to the Rustin Reber band. Then on Monday the Lodge held their annual Talent Show. Colby rapped for his talent and WON $25 to the lodge! He was pretty excited and did a great job...he is quite the little performer. The lodge then had fireworks to end out the night. We spent the rest of the weekend fishing, playing in the dirt, and taking naps in our new a/c'd trailer! Perfect weekend... can't wait to go up next weekend for the Heritage Festival!!

Florida 2011

So many pictures and memories I want to post for this post I don't even know where to begin. For the last week we have been vacationing with my family (my parents, my brother and sister in law, and our family) in Florida!! It was such a busy but great vacation!! Every day was jam packed with things we wanted to go do and see. We flew in on Tuesday afternoon and spent the day finding our hotel and unpacking our suitcases.
On Wednesday we decided to drive down to the beach. Since the Eastern beaches had been overrun by jellyfish, we decided to go to the gulf coast instead. We drove to Clearwater Beach about an hour and a half away. The beach was gorgeous and the water was seriously like bathwater warm! It was a great beach and the kiddos had a great time splashing in the water and playing in the sand. Thursday we spent the day at Disney World Magic Kingdom. We broke Tay in on her first ride (which was also Colby's first ride when he was a baby) Pirates of the Carribean. She did so well and didn't cry at all even though she had a pretty tight grip on dad's arm throughout the ride. We spent the day wandering around riding rides and of course standing in lines. On Friday we went to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It was really neat to see the Epcot sphere. Taylee was such a great kid being cooped up in her stroller for 2 days in the hot, hot, humid Florida weather. Colby was at that perfect age to ride all the rides he wanted and he had a blast! His favorite ride was Space Mountain. After an exhausting 2 days we decided to have a little more low-key day and went to Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. We toured around the rocket garden and got to see the launch pads and even got to see what it would it would feel like to be blasted into space. On Sunday we took Josh to his only request for the trip, Gatorland. We got to see lots of huge alligators. We also got to hold a huge burmese python and see gator wrestling. Haha it doesn't get much more redneck than that. Monday we were going to go to Universal Studios but we were all pretty much exhausted and decided to make it a pool day instead. We did get to venture over there for lunch at Bubba Gumps though so we at least got to see it, but didn't ride any of the rides. We then spent the rest of the evening enjoying our beautiful hotel porch and great company. Tuesday morning it was time to fly back into SLC and drive home. We had a great time and it was nice vacation.

Easter 2011

Well Easter weekend ended up not being quite what we planned but a great weekend all the same! We had planned to go up to Josh's Grandpa's ranch in Delta for the weekend with his family. The weatherman was saying chance of rain but we decided to pack up and go anyway. We woke up early Saturday morning to get out there and after we got clear to Delta (which was socked in rain clouds and freezing cold) we didn't know what we should do. We then got a call from his mom and they had had tire problems on the 4wheeler trailer. We decided then between the rain, the cold, and their tire problems a camping trip was just not in the cards for us, so we turned around and came home. By the time we got back home Saturday we were pretty well exhausted from a long day of driving. Josh's mom and dad and his nephew Jayden came down and we colored eggs here at the house and made dutchoven dinner and cobbler. The next day the Easter bunny still managed to find us and we had a small egg hunt here at the house and then headed to Josh's moms house for another egg hunt and Easter dinner. And then Colby got to spend the night up there. So although camping didn't work out we still had a great time!
